This Friday, August 21, El Reparo has generously offered to donate 10% of all sales toward the ongoing recovery effort in Laurel caused by the catastrophic flooding. Enjoy a great meal at one of your favorite local restaurants and help support the families rebuilding after the flood.

A Legacy Rooted in Laurel
 Laurel Legacy Foundation was established in response to Laurel’s economic decline and the loss of critical institutions that once sustained the town. With more than 70 years of family history rooted in Laurel, the Foundation recognizes both the challenges facing the community and the resilience of the residents who kept it alive—most notably through the volunteer-led transformation of the former high school into the Laurel Community Center, now the town’s central hub for food access, wellness programs, youth activities, and future medical services.

 The Foundation’s mission is to reinvest in Laurel through initiatives that strengthen opportunity, restore dignity, and rebuild community pride. Key programs include the Delbert L. Spurlock Scholarship, supporting local students pursuing higher education or job training, and the Civic Award, honoring individuals who demonstrate exceptional volunteer service.

 Current revitalization efforts focus on improving the community center’s interior and exterior, enhancing public spaces, and reinforcing community identity through projects such as veteran recognition flags, beautification initiatives, park upgrades, and seasonal decorations.

 The Foundation seeks funding support to continue this work, ensuring that Laurel’s heritage is honored while building a sustainable and vibrant future for generations to come.

Today, the former high school stands as a vibrant hub of activity, hosting sporting events, athletic and wellness clubs, and serving as the home for our local food pantry. This resurgence of the community center is the cornerstone of our renewed spirit, providing a space where generations come together for health, connection, and opportunity.

Honoring Our Hometown Heroes
We are installing custom banner to recognize Laurel's hometown heros. Each flag will feature a veteran's name, photograph, and branch of service, creating a permanent tribute to their sacrifice.
Beautification
To restore the beauty of our shared spaces, we are collaborating with local artists to develop public installations and seasonal decorations that reinforce our community's unique identity and pride.
Community Center Upgrades
Our focus remains on preserving Panther Pride and continuing the fighting spirit of our hometown through facility modernizations and inclusive local programming.
